In Thessaloniki, a 26-year-old man has been arrested for a series of robberies targeting elderly women — including one captured on video inside a residential building. According to newsit.gr, the suspect’s loot exceeded €7,000.
Video Shows Brazen Attack Inside Elevator Lobby
The footage, obtained by newsit.gr, shows the suspect lying in wait near an elevator in a multi-story apartment block. An elderly woman waits unsuspectingly — and as soon as she steps inside the elevator, he rushes down the stairs and forces his way in. He then grabs her jewelry before fleeing the scene.
Pattern of Violence Against Vulnerable Victims
Investigations revealed that between May 10 and July 3, the man robbed at least four elderly women — primarily in neighborhoods around central Thessaloniki. He used physical force to steal cash and valuables.
Arrest After Confrontation With Police
Authorities located the suspect in the Sykies district. When officers attempted to stop him for questioning, he refused to comply — and even assaulted them in an attempt to evade arrest. He now faces multiple charges, including robbery, assault on police officers, resistance, and disobedience.
The case file is expected to be submitted to the competent public prosecutor.
