The Thessaloniki Appeals Court has delivered a unanimous verdict acquitting the 23-year-old daughter who was accused as an accomplice in the murder of her 49-year-old father, a taxi driver, which took place in June 2020 at their home in Evosmos. Conversely, the 51-year-old mother was sentenced to life imprisonment without mitigation for the premeditated killing of her husband. The victim was found dead in a pool of blood on his bed with 21 stab wounds to his neck and face, dying from uncontrolled bleeding due to severed arteries. Initially, both women were charged with joint homicide, but the primary court found the mother guilty as the principal perpetrator and the daughter as an accomplice (sentenced to six years). During the trial, the mother claimed her daughter committed the murder, alleging that the father had been abusive. However, the daughter refuted these claims, accusing her mother of manipulation and fabricating sexual abuse allegations. Ultimately, the judges were convinced unanimously (7-0) that the crime was solely committed by the mother, absolving the daughter of any involvement. Prosecutors described the murder as ‘cold, organized, and methodical.’
