The eldest son and husband of a 50-year-old woman who tragically lost her life in a road accident caused by a drunk driver with no license spoke out about their loss. “Chara was murdered, not killed in an accident. This wasn’t a mishap or misfortune; it was pure murder,” emphasized her husband. In an instant, the lives of him and their two sons, aged 25 and 9, were changed forever after the crash in Thessaloniki. The eldest son described his mother as the joy of the family: “Her name was Chara (Joy), and she truly embodied joy in our lives. It still feels like a nightmare; I can’t believe it happened.” He added, “The only thing giving me strength and courage to move forward is my little brother and father. For them, I must continue, and that’s what I will do.” The 50-year-old mother died instantly after colliding with a car driven by a 60-year-old man without a license and reportedly under the influence of alcohol. Witnesses at a nearby café where the driver frequented stated he had been drinking before the incident. Locals from Langada, where the tragedy occurred, expressed grief over the preventable loss of this unfortunate woman who was on her way to pick up her child. The community is now discussing safety measures for a dangerous spot where numerous accidents have occurred annually. Meanwhile, the 60-year-old driver remains hospitalized in critical condition under guard. Authorities reported 16 arrests within 24 hours in Thessaloniki for driving without a license.
