A new deadline has been set for Sunday, May 11, 2025, for the 36-year-old man accused of renting the apartment from which the 38-year-old woman began her journey before placing and detonating a bomb outside a bank in Thessaloniki. The suspect appeared in court this morning. According to reports, the man rented the apartment where the woman started her journey that tragically ended with her death when the bomb exploded near the intersection of Agiou Dimitriou and Platonos streets. The man reportedly claims, ‘I did the delivery. I’ve done similar deliveries before. I had no idea it was a bomb. I left because I was scared.’ His lawyer, Savvas Achilias, stated, ‘His employer didn’t know he was transporting a bomb. He maintains his innocence and hasn’t confessed to any involvement.’ The 36-year-old faces charges including membership in a criminal organization, causing an explosion endangering human life, possession, supply, and construction of explosives, damage to property, and violation of firearms laws. Notably, during a search of the apartment he rented on April 30 via a short-term rental platform with the 38-year-old, authorities found high-powered explosives, fireworks, and a small amount of TNT.
