Thessaloniki: Husband Shaken by the Death of His 50-Year-Old Wife in a Tragic Car Accident

The perpetrator of this tragic incident was a 60-year-old driver under the influence of alcohol, as confirmed after multiple tests. This reckless behavior led to the death on the provincial road between Langada and Kolchikou in Thessaloniki. The husband’s grief is unbearable. Speaking to MEGA, he recounted how he learned about the loss of his beloved wife with a heart-wrenching description. ‘She left the child at home to run errands in Langada and was on her way back to pick up our child. Since she was late, I called but she didn’t answer. I received a call from daycare asking if she would come. I picked up the child, and while passing by, I saw someone I knew who said there had been an accident nearby,’ he explained with a trembling voice. ‘I asked what happened, and when I heard about two cars—one white and one blue—I immediately realized it was her. When I arrived, they were taking her out of the car and placing her in a body bag,’ he continued. The 60-year-old driver, who caused the fatal accident, was speeding dangerously and had consumed alcohol. He had been arrested multiple times for drunk driving, resulting in the suspension of his license. An eyewitness reported finding the victim inside the wreckage, already deceased. The uncle of the unfortunate woman revealed that the driver was intoxicated the previous night as well, until a neighbor took his keys and locked him inside his car. Local authorities in Langada, Thessaloniki, must address the conditions leading to this tragedy, given numerous complaints and calls for action that have gone unheeded.
