The terrifying moments experienced by a 45-year-old man in Thessaloniki were recounted after an incident at a tavern on Monday night. According to his account, a 64-year-old Spanish man was harassing customers, including attempting to approach a woman with a baby, at a tavern in the Ambelokipoi area. When the 45-year-old tried to intervene and remove the man, the Spaniard attempted to stab him. Officers from the OPKE intervened, apprehending and immobilizing the 64-year-old, who resisted arrest and threatened the police. A search of his car revealed knives and swords. The victim described how the man seemed intent on causing harm, speaking only Spanish, which made communication difficult. Thankfully, nearby officers assisted in disarming the attacker. Charges have been filed against the Spanish man for attempted dangerous bodily harm and violating weapon laws, leading him to be referred to criminal prosecution. The trial has been postponed until Wednesday, and the suspect remains in custody.
