Thessaloniki: Fraudsters posing as DEH employees steal €200,000 from elderly woman

An elderly woman fell victim to a scam in Thessaloniki where four fraudsters posing as DEH (Public Power Corporation) employees stole €200,000. The incident occurred in the Analipsi area when the scammers entered the apartment of an 82-year-old woman and managed to take the money using distraction techniques. The event took place in mid-February, after which the elderly woman reported the theft to authorities. Following investigations by the Charilaou-Analipsi Criminal Investigation Division, police were able to identify the suspects. According to a police announcement, the four suspects are Greek nationals aged between 24 and 36. Legal proceedings have been initiated against them, with the case now being forwarded to the competent prosecutor’s office.
