A 49-year-old in whom he was driving under the influence having his 15-year-old son in the passenger seat was sentenced to 14 months in prison, suspended. The one-member court of Thessaloniki found him guilty of dangerous driving and driving under the influence of alcohol, and acquitted him of the offence of exposure to danger. The same decision imposed a penalty of EUR 1,200. CORVERSE According to what was reported in the audience, the 49-year-old was arrested last Sunday in a village outside Thessaloniki. Previously the defendant had picked up his minor son from a restaurant and traveled a short distance he took him home. There, the minor seems to have confided to his mother that the father “smells alcohol”. In fear that the 49-year-old would return to the vehicle by taking a steering wheel again, the grandmother of the minor called EL.AS. So he was found to be under the influence of alcohol. In his apology, the 49-year-old admitted that he had consumed alcohol and apologized to his family. “I took the car to take the child and brought him back by a short distance. I had a drink. I had quit for five years and after the holidays I started drinking again,” he said.
