Thessaloniki: Bus Fire on Michail Psellos Avenue – Quick Fire Brigade Response

An alarm was raised this morning (30/1/2026) at Thessaloniki’s fire brigade when a bus caught fire on a central city street. The incident occurred at the intersection of Michail Psellos and Kifissias streets. Firefighters arrived promptly and successfully extinguished the blaze. No human lives were endangered, though the dramatic footage sparked public concern. Flames erupted forcefully from the rear of the bus, alarming passersby. Interior images show severely burnt seats, and the entire rear section of the bus was completely destroyed. The bus belonged to OASTH (Thessaloniki Urban Transport Organization), operated by Lia Foka / EUROKINISSI. Fortunately, all passengers had evacuated safely before the fire escalated. The cause remains under investigation.
