Thessaloniki: 93-Year-Old Arrested for Brutally Assaulting His 86-Year-Old Wife

An 86-year-old woman is being treated at the hospital in a state of shock after falling victim to a brutal domestic violence incident by her husband in Thessaloniki. The 93-year-old perpetrator, involved in another case of domestic violence, was arrested and referred to an expedited trial. According to reports, the incident occurred on Tuesday evening (13.05.25) in Langada, Thessaloniki, when the man allegedly assaulted his elderly wife with sticks and a wooden cane. The victim was discovered the following morning by employees of the ‘Home Assistance’ Program of the Municipality of Langada, who provided first aid before transferring her to the hospital via ambulance. The police were subsequently notified. According to the victim’s statement to the police, the attack was unprovoked. A forensic examination has been ordered to document her injuries, and criminal charges have been filed against the 93-year-old for dangerous domestic violence. He has been referred to the Single-Member Misdemeanor Court of Thessaloniki.
