The Mixed Jury Court sentenced today (March 12, 2025) a 57-year-old man to eight years in prison for sexually abusing his underage daughter. The case came to light in 2020 when the then 13.5-year-old victim filed a complaint against her father. However, during the trial, she retracted her initial statements made during the preliminary investigation and testified in defense of her father, claiming she filed the complaint to retaliate against him because he was strict and restricted her activities outside the home. Despite this, the court found the original complaint credible. Notably, the prosecutor cited repeated testimonies from psychologists and social workers where the minor described in detail what had occurred. According to court documents, the 57-year-old sexually harassed his daughter twice during the summer of 2019 at night while they slept in the same bedroom. A year later, following an argument with her mother who broke her phone, the minor confided in a friend, leading to the involvement of the police after encouragement from the friend’s father. Both the mother and the accused denied the allegations during the trial.
