Thessaloniki: 56-Year-Old Teacher Convicted of Sexual Harassment of 10-Year-Old Student

A 56-year-old teacher was sentenced to a total of three years’ imprisonment, suspended for three years, for sexually harassing one of his students. He was found guilty of violating sexual dignity and exploiting a minor. The case was brought before the judiciary in March 2023 following a police complaint alleging that the teacher had fondled and kissed his then-10-year-old student during full-day school hours in an eastern Thessaloniki suburb. The educator was arrested at the time in flagrante delicto. After multiple postponements, the trial took place at the Thessaloniki Single-Member Misdemeanor Court. The convicted teacher did not appear in court and was represented by a lawyer who denied the allegations.
