A 36-year-old man has been convicted in Thessaloniki for sexually harassing a 17-year-old girl on a bus. The incident occurred on the afternoon of April 26th on route ’12’ heading towards KTEL Thessaloniki. Despite claiming it was a misunderstanding, the defendant’s actions were deemed inappropriate by the court. The underage victim testified before the Single-Member Misdemeanor Court that despite many empty seats, the accused sat next to her after staring persistently and then proceeded to touch her inappropriately. “I started crying and froze. I immediately pushed my friend who was in front of me, and thankfully another woman alerted the driver, who locked the doors and called the police,” the young girl recounted. The defendant denied the allegations, stating it was a misinterpretation. However, the court found him guilty of ‘offense to sexual dignity’ and sentenced him to 12 months in prison with a three-year suspension.
