Thessaloniki: 23-Year-Old Hospitalized with Burns After Workplace Accident in Sindos Industrial Area

A serious workplace accident occurred on Thursday afternoon (03.07.2025) in the Sindos Industrial Estate, Thessaloniki, leaving a 23-year-old man seriously injured and rushed to AHEPA University Hospital with severe burns. According to police reports, the incident happened when the young employee, working at a food company in Thessaloniki, attempted to unclog a metal boiler and was doused in hot water containing a caustic substance, causing extensive chemical burns.

Emergency services responded swiftly, dispatching an ambulance and a mobile EKAV unit consisting of one doctor and four paramedics. As reported on social media by EKAV staff, immediate and specialized interventions were required at the scene. The victim’s clothes were removed to wash off the corrosive liquid from his body, followed by resuscitation procedures including intravenous fluid administration, oxygen supply, and pain management, all in accordance with International Burn Treatment Protocols.

The exact circumstances surrounding the incident are currently under investigation by officers from the Delta Police Station.
