A 10-year-old child suffered a cardiac arrest on Wednesday afternoon, March 11, 2026, at the Poseidonio Swimming Pool in Thessaloniki. Emergency medical personnel from the National Center for Direct Aid (EKAB) — including a physician and rescue teams — responded immediately to the scene and initiated Advanced Life Support protocols.

The child regained spontaneous circulation and was initially stabilized on-site before being safely transferred to Thessaloniki’s Hippokration Hospital for further evaluation and treatment of the cardiac event.

Emergency response involved one standard ambulance and one Mobile Medical Unit, with four EKAB rescuers and one EKAB physician participating in the intervention.
