The Minister of Development visited them today (30.10.2024), accompanied by the Secretary General for Private Investment, Stellina Siarapi. Theodorikos met with the founder and CEO of the EMUX Technologies Group, Panos Xenokosta, as well as with the Ambassador of the United States in our country, George Chounis, whose contribution was decisive for the implementation of the large investment made in Elefsina shipyards. The Minister of Development presented the achievements to date, as well as the future goals of ONEX, he saw the facilities in close proximity, talked with employees, as well as with the new children trained in shipyards under the ISPA programmes. As Mr Theodorikos pointed out, investments in the shipbuilding industry will be considered strategic and he added that the shipbuilding site will offer more and more possibilities of safe work for young children who want to work and produce in this area. In turn, Mr. Xenokostas thanked the Minister of Development and the Government as a whole for the timeless support for the investment made in Elefsina shipyards. So that the vision of many new and well-paid jobs in the shipyards and their conversion to an export site with a very large footprint on the country’s GDP can be put into practice. The Minister of Development Takis Theodorikos stated in detail: “The shipbuilding industry, the blue economy of our country, is at the center of the new production model. A country like Greece, which is a powerful naval force, cannot have an equally powerful shipbuilding industry and shipbuilding repair. That is why the Government supports the new shipbuilding plan with all efforts. The EMU, which has been installed here for 1.5 years in the shipyards of Elefsina which are now operating properly, has achieved a turnover estimated in the two shipyards in 2024 to exceed EUR 120 million. It is important that 450 workers work and are paid normally. And we’re creating a new dynamic for the shipyard. I would like to give two messages: new investments in the shipbuilding industry will be considered by the Ministry of Development and our government as strategic, with what this will mean to facilitate their implementation both in speed and in dynamics and in effect to significantly increase the influence and effect on the entire Greek economy. The second is these young children trained here in the framework of the Ministry of Labour’s DYPA programmes. The site of the shipbuilding industry and shipbuilding will offer more and more job opportunities, safe work for young children who want to work and produce in this area.”
