Theodorikakos: Signing of Cooperation Memorandum Between ONEX and Thrasio Goods Center is Crucial

A cooperation memorandum aimed at strengthening the supply chain, optimizing trade flows, and promoting sustainable and innovative logistics solutions in the shipbuilding sector was signed today (May 15, 2025) between Thrasio Goods Center and Shipyards & Technologies Group, in the presence of Takis Theodorikakos. At the signing ceremony held at the Ministry of Development, Vasileios Magklaras, managing advisor for Thrasio, and Panos Xenokostas, president and managing advisor of ONEX, were present. Also attending were Mildred Callear, Chief Financial Officer of the U.S. Development Finance Corporation (DFC), which finances the investment, and Maria Olson, an official from the U.S. Embassy. According to an announcement, the Memorandum of Cooperation focuses on specific areas including supply chain management, logistics optimization, specialized shipping services, green transportation, automation and digital services, as well as technology exchange in logistics infrastructure design and development. Minister of Development Takis Theodorikakos stated that the signing of the MOU has exceptional importance for the national economy. He emphasized that the hundreds of acres utilized by ONEX will transform into a major transportation hub, combining maritime and land transport with a modern logistics center, creating numerous jobs and boosting Greece’s economic growth. Panos Xenokostas, president and managing advisor of ONEX, thanked the Ministry of Development and the government for their continuous support since 2019 in the shipyard regeneration plan. He highlighted the significance of Eleusina as a hub serving energy transition and supply independence, utilizing advanced infrastructure. Vasileios Magklaras, managing advisor of Thrasio Goods Center, expressed gratitude to the minister and government for supporting this critical project and noted the role of DFC in financing the large-scale investment. He emphasized that the creation of the largest goods center in Southeastern Europe would revolutionize Greece’s logistics ecosystem, generating new job opportunities.
