Greece’s Minister of Development emphasized that the introduction of the National Quality Policy will elevate the ‘Made in Greece’ label into a globally recognized symbol of reliability, quality, and safety for Greek products and services. Speaking before the Parliamentary Committee during discussions on the Ministry’s legislative proposal, Theodorikakos highlighted how certified quality plays a crucial role in enhancing business competitiveness and strengthening the national economy.

He explained that Greece is equipping itself with modern tools, institutional excellence, and digital infrastructure to create a new quality framework. This includes the establishment of a Government Quality Committee — a collective body responsible for shaping, monitoring, evaluating, and approving quality initiatives across sectors.

In addition, the minister outlined reforms in public procurement aimed at ensuring transparency, legality, speed, and efficiency in contract execution. A specialized workforce of public officials will be trained to manage public contracts more effectively, promoting integrity, accountability, and better use of public funds.

Regarding elevator safety, Theodorikakos pointed out that this is not just a bureaucratic issue but a matter of public safety. He urged all stakeholders to register elevators on a digital platform by November 30 to enable data-driven planning and certification schedules.
