Theatrical director Kostas Farmasonis died

Greek mourns the loss of an elite, Kostas N.Pharmasonis who left his last breath on Saturday (04.01.2020) at the age of 74. A student of Roderis, Kostas Farmasonis, was a graduate of the faculty of theatre and theatre at the University of Vienna and a graduate director from Max Reinhardt-Seminar, Vienna. According to the late Kostas Georgousopoulos, the well-known director belonged to the small group of Greek theatre directors. CORVERSE A graduate of the Law and Philosophy School of the University of Athens also directed in Austria and Greece many works of the classical and contemporary repertoire: Aristophane, Shakespeare, Gogol, Brecht, Dirrenmat, T. Williams, S. Strayev, Croets, D. Byzantium, M. Hurmuzi, I.Cabanellis, V. Zioga, Bost, D. Kehaidis, G.Maniotis, St. Tsioli, A. Municipality, Evia Triviza etc. He served for 12 years as Artistic Director of DI.PE. THE. Agrinio, to whom he gave art theatre identity. Especially his directions in works by B. Brecht were described by Mr. Georgusopoulos as “Brecht’s return to Greece”. His productions have been presented at all the festivals of the country between them at the Ancient Theatre of Epidaurus and Herodion. CORVERSE One of his most recent known productions was the theatricalization of texts by Eugene Trivisa, a collaboration that left time in modern children’s theatre performances. From the 1980s to today he has taught in numerous theatre seminars of the Ministry of Culture and other cultural institutions in every corner of Greece. He was married to Georgia Kostopoulou and father of three children from him and from prior marriage. The exodus sequence and burial will take place on Sunday 5 January at 15:00 in his hometown, Kastri Kynouria.
