Coastal Zones (ICZM) and Maritime Spatial Planning (MSP) is the goal of the new European Programme Co-EVOLVE in which it participates the Region of Crete.
Is the work of the Mediterranean Territorial Cooperation Programmes (MED, INTERREG) and has as its object the promotion of the harmonious co-existence and co-evolution of human activities and of natural systems, whereas the positive growth conditions in the Mediterranean, environmental risks-threats such as the degradation of the environment by excessive human use and climate change. An essential element for the cooperation of Mediterranean Regions for the achievement of the above objective are the synergies between them, the exchange of methodology based on the Integrated Management of the Coastal Zone, the development of common tools for decision-making.
The new European Programme for Co EVOLVE coordinated by the Region If Macedonia and Thrace participating operators from five countries (Greece, Italy, France, Spain, Croatia), as well as the Assembly of Coastal and Peripheral Regions of Europe ( Conference of Peripheral Maritime Regions – CPMR), of which the Vice presidency and on the maritime issues of the Region of Crete.
The kick-off meeting of the Project partners which took place in Komotini, in the Region of Crete was represented by Dr. E ralph tresvant, director of the Environment and Spatial Planning co-ordinator for cooperation of Region of Crete with partners-carriers of the new European Programme.
