From early afternoon, he rests in the First Cemetery. There he was greeted by his wife Daphne, his daughters Fiona and Marilena, his grandchildren, and the rest of the family. Under the sound of the mourning march played by the Air Force band left white roses and received the Greek flag with which his coffin was covered. He was followed by President Katerina Sakellaropoulou, President of PASOK Nikos Androulakis along with the party’s Parliamentary Group, former ministers and former PASOK MPs as well as a number of executives, older and young, the party, close associates of Kostas Simitis and friends and supporters of PASOK. CORVERSE The climate in the First Cemetery was mute, a discreet silence prevailed. Costas Simitis was buried with honors in acting Prime Minister. There was little talk, whisperers about leaving a point of reference for the progressive party. Earlier in the Metropolis of Athens the exodus was performed and after reading the eulogys, a procession followed, which made a stop in front of the House Hall and the Monument of the Unknown Soldier. Upon arriving at the First Cemetery, a contingent paid honors, while enough was the world that preceded the procession and waited for the former Prime Minister at the cemetery to say goodbye to him.
