“The European Project STEP-2-SPORT and the perspective of buildings almost zero energy consumption”

The European Project STEP-2-SPORT and
the prospect of buildings with nearly zero energy consumption on Thursday, 26 January time 9.30 am.m. the Primary Multiplex Culture GALAXY (central square, New york.Smyrna (izmir).
Focus of the Project Step-2-Sport, which was launched in March 2014 and be completed next February, is the improvement of the energy performance of sports facilities, which –according to studies – are responsible for up to 10% of the annual energy consumption of the building sector. With the main axis of the achievement of gradual renovations to outdated and energy-intensive sports facilities, the project Step-2-Sport promotes the further increase of investments with the objective of improving the energy efficiency and use of renewable energy sources in sport buildings, into buildings of almost zero energy consumption, the increase in the number of buildings in the EU who possess Certification of the Energy Performance and ultimately support the prospect of EU for reduction of emissions of greenhouse gases. The implementation of the Project involved pilot 26 sports facilities from 7 countries (Greece, Bulgaria, Spain, Italy, Poland, Portugal and Sweden). The Greek pilots is the Municipal swimming Pool of Nea Smyrni, the Municipal Gymnasium of ancient macedonia and the Municipal Gymnasium of Elefsina.
The event will be attended by representatives of the implementing bodies of the Project (MEDITERRANEAN SOS Network and SPEED Development Consultants SA) of the university community and local government. Beyond the assessment of the course of the Project, will be attempted, and the effective promotion of the perspective of buildings almost zero energy consumption, the relevant European legislative framework, the available methodologies and tools that can contribute decisively in this direction.
