The EU regrets the increase in Trump tariffs

The European Union (EU) deplored today (2.2.2025) the US decision to impose on Canada, Mexico and China. At present, we do not know that additional duties will be imposed on EU products. Our trade and investment relations with the United States are the largest in the world. There’s a lot at stake. We should both seek to strengthen this relationship. Horizontal tariff measures increase the costs of businesses, harm workers and consumers. Customs create unnecessary financial disruption and lead to inflation. It’s harmful to all sides. CORVERSE Open markets and respect for international trade rules are essential to strong and sustainable economic growth. The EU firmly believes that low tariffs promote growth and economic stability within a strong trade system.
