The DNA of the Greeks… in the world

It’s been 46.000 – 59.000 years since modern man appeared in greece, however, thanks to analyses of DNA, we still have a lot to learn about the identity of the Greeks…
Impressive figures have revealed day-by-day genetic research at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) and in other european institutions, completing the puzzle of the origin of the Greeks.
The most modern scientific evidence for the genetic make-up of the present inhabitants of Greece lists in his book “The genetic history of Greece – The DNA of the Greeks”, the emeritus professor of Genetics and of Human Genetics, Constantinos Triantafyllidis, who has dedicated many years to this research.
One of the most interesting items it shows that the Greeks are not only not affected genetically from other peoples, but instead they passed on their DNA to the rest of Europe! In fact, the Greek genetic material “looks” that a lot of the Italians, less with the French and with a percentage of Spaniards, but not with the Turks, as one would expect due to the Turkish occupation.
Striking is that the DNA of the modern Greek shows ancestry from the Neolithic era, and a direct continuity with that of the ancient Greeks, without being subjected to special impurities and, furthermore, the possibility that the ancient Greeks had reached the… America centuries before Columbus kissed the soil of the “West Indies” is considered today as highly likely by scientists.
In the book, other than the tile data, the acclaimed scientist compares the characteristics of the Greeks with similar items peoples of the Balkans, Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
“The signature DNA of the Greeks reflects, even today, the spread of the ancient Greeks and proves the continuity of the Greeks in space and time”, points to the “Messenger of the Sunday,” mr Triantaphyllides.
Surprises of genetic
The new research, based on the study of DNA and no blood tests as before, leading to more valid conclusions and it is expected to give new information about the genetic material of the Greeks, estimates mr Triantaphyllides. “The fact that we are genetically from the Slavs we had seen before, studying the blood groups.
We now have data from over 300,000 genes and genetic markers to prove that they do not apply, for example, claims such as that the Greeks have african origins, as they support it incorrectly, ultimately, the skopjans”, emphasises the professor.
He adds that with interest expected, and the results of future studies. “The Swedish scientists studied the bones in tombs in southern Sweden and found that people of Mycenae had been there thousands of years ago, bringing not only cultural goods, but also ships, as well as the genetic material. This is beyond everything we knew until now,” says mr Triantaphyllides.
New streets, in accordance with the same, for the diagnosis and treatment of many diseases, opened the deciphering of the genetic code and the recent discovery of a group of researchers at the Medical School of the university of Washington in Seattle, led by professor of Genetics John Σταματογιαννόπουλο.
“The latest breakthrough on a second genetic code inside the DNA, which contains additional information that changes how scientists read the standard code of DNA and explain the mutations from the point of view of health.
Today, the challenge is to find applications in Medicine, in order to molecular diagnosis for thousands of diseases. We must, however, be defined by law and the specifications, as is the case internationally,” concludes mr Triantaphyllides.
In his book, combines the Genetics with History, Archaeology, Linguistics, Anthropology, Palaeontology and Mythology, giving scientific answers to questions about the identity and origin of the present inhabitants of Greece. The book will be presented on Saturday 25 January, at 11.30 a.m., in the Company of Macedonian Studies (National Defense 4), in Thessaloniki.
The Greek DNA through Axios river and Danube river
One of the main conclusions of the multi-annual studies of the genetic material of the Greeks is that the Greeks brought their culture and their DNA in Western Europe, through the valley of the Axios river and then the Danube. The movement of settlers started namely from the areas of Thessaloniki, in central Macedonia and Thessaly.
“By comparing the DNA of the inhabitants of Greece and especially the Peloponnese, with the DNA of the inhabitants of southern Italy, it is found that in a large percentage of them are same. The genetic contribution of the Greeks to the genetic make-up of the present inhabitants of Sicily and Southern Italy amounts to 37.3% and 10%, respectively.
It is known that the regions of graecia, in southern Italy, mainly composed of Greek populations, but the most striking is that the genetic fingerprint is still to be revealed today, after 2,500 years!”, observes mr Triantaphyllides.
As he describes, scientists attach great importance to the fact that after dozens of inquiries I discovered Mongolian origin in the DNA of the Greeks. He explains that, despite the Turkish occupation in Greece, it is not shown, as expected, some relationship to the DNA of the two peoples.
The Greek DNA has not been affected one iota, while the same is not the case, for example, for today’s Spaniards, who, in a significant percentage have Arabic genetic origins.
Apart from the Turks, and the Bulgarians, the Slavs of FYROM, and Albanians differ in the genetic composition of the Greeks.
In addition, the genetic data reject as erroneous the theory of Φαλμεράυερ on the origin of the Greeks, who, it turns out that grouped genetically with european peoples.
