Many viewers have noticed a hidden message in his new A24 “Heretic”, directed by Scott Beck and Brian Woods. The film project has many thematic levels, but the most current message is read during its end titles, with a statement stating: “No genetic Artificial Intelligence used in creating this film”. While the film has limited visual effects, directors wanted to include this message in the end titles and address the urgent issue that is becoming increasingly topical in creative fields. Brian Woods stated: “We have no illusions that when people watch the film “Heretic” they will say: ‘ Wait, did they use genetic artificial intelligence? ‘ It is not at all so, but it was important for us to declare it because we believe it is something people should start talking about.” Describing Artificial Intelligence he spoke of “…an algorithm that mixes a bunch… and then spits it out as art”. “It’s not human and it’s marginal theft at some level”. Beck expressed his enthusiasm that A24, the studio behind the film, supported the addition to the titles. “As far as we know, it is perfectly okay with that,” he said. “It is a studio that is incredibly friendly to artists in the best possible sense” he stressed.
