“The agreement with Turkey for the refugee is in effect”

Στράιτερ in today’s μπρίφινγκ in Berlin, the German government “does not have evidence that Turkey is in breach of” the agreement on the refugee with the EU. Despite any statements made lately by members of the Turkish government, said a representative of the ministry of Foreign affairs, “the fact is that the agreement shall apply to, and we do not have evidence that there have been in the last few days or weeks some changes.” The agreement is, however, so in the interest of the EU and Turkey.

Georg Στράιτερ denied also the Turkish complaints that the EU is not respecting its commitment to $ 3 billion. euros in aid for refugees in Turkey. As recalled, the agreement between the EU and Turkey provides that for each of the Syros, a refugee who returns from Greece to Turkey, the EU is obliged to accept a Syros national of Turkey. While, however, returned from Greece to Turkey 916 Syrians – all of them on a voluntary basis – the member states of the EU were at the same time 4100 Syrians. The data show according to mr. Πλάτε that the EU maintains “more than” those for which it has committed.
Redirections to Greece
In another point of μπρίφινγκ the representative of the ministry of Interior stated after relevant question of the DW that the return of refugees to Greece will relate in accordance with the recommendations of the Commission only refugees that will come from now on in Germany. Mr. Πλατέ made it explicitly clear that the redirections do not apply to those refugees who have come in the past in Germany.
