“The prosecutor must place a red ribbon onOSE to prevent any train from running,” emphasized Alma Lata, mother of Claudiya Lata, the victim of the tragedy in Tempi, referring to the findings by Dimitris Karoni. Her message was delivered as Alma Lata, who lost her daughter in Tempi, submitted her statement to the examining magistrate on Monday (12.05.2025). Alma Lata, along with President of Plefsi Eleftheria Konstantopoulou and Elias Papangelis, father of Anastasia Papangelis who also perished in Tempi, visited the examining magistrate recently, according to larissanet.gr. “I am distressed by Karoni’s verdict. There are no testimonies or chemical analyses. I want to protect a family so they don’t mourn like I do. If Mr. Karoni says that silicone oils caused the fireball that burned our children alive, then the prosecutor must ensure that trains stop running,” she initially stated in her remarks. As Alma Lata told the media, what she conveyed to the examining magistrate is that if Dimitris Karoni’s findings about silicone oils being the cause of the fire hold true, then trains should cease operations. Opposition to the verdict was also expressed by Elias Papangelis, while Zoe Konstantopoulou emphasized that the investigation into the railway disaster continues with new investigative actions.
