Serious allegations of deliberate delays in the court proceedings concerning the Tempes tragedy were made today by the lawyer representing the Plakia family and the family of the freight driver. Speaking on Status FM radio, Leonidas Koumbouras accused experts of knowingly supporting the claim of illegal cargo despite evidence suggesting otherwise. This statement highlights a growing rift among the victims’ families. Mr. Koumbouras criticized the repeated revisions in assessments by experts Lakafosis and Kokotsakis regarding the weight and position of the alleged illegal cargo. He emphasized that the commercial truck sustained no substantial damage and that the fireball phenomenon followed the path of the passenger vehicle. The lawyer stressed that the investigation should focus on substantiating charges rather than convincing the public about the existence of illegal cargo. He expressed concern over deliberate attempts to prolong the judicial process through baseless claims of illegal cargo, smuggling, or fire, which only serve to delay the trial’s commencement.
