Two incidents of assault involving teenage perpetrators and victims, seemingly motivated by romantic jealousy, have been uncovered by the police in Thessaloniki. The authorities formed charges against three teenagers aged 14, 15, and 16. The incidents occurred at the end of January in Stavroupoli and were investigated by officers from the Juvenile Protection Department of the Thessaloniki Crime Investigation Division. According to a police statement, the first incident happened when two of the teenagers arranged a meeting via the internet with another teenager to resolve personal disputes concerning a girl, resulting in physical assault. A second encounter followed 24 hours later, where the jealous parties were accompanied by friends. This led to further violence, causing injuries to the accused party and two of his friends (aged 14, 15, and 17). Two of the perpetrators also reportedly issued online threats to two teenage girls to prevent them from reporting the incidents to the police. The charges filed against the three teens and submitted to the Thessaloniki Primary Court Prosecutor include offenses of bodily harm to vulnerable individuals and threats.
