A 17-year-old impersonated a transit inspector, issuing fake fines and collecting money from unsuspecting passengers. This underage scammer managed to pose as an inspector in buses, deceiving people who didn’t suspect anything. “I told him I don’t have a ticket, he said he would write me a summons. He wrote a 72-euro fine on suspicious paper that wasn’t from the public transport authority,” said one victim. However, the vigilance of passengers eventually led to the apprehension of this fraudulent inspector. Despite having all the necessary accessories like a wireless device and fake inspector ID, entering buses alone—a practice uncommon for real inspectors—was what ultimately exposed him. “The OSY supervisor came and caught him red-handed.” When arrested, authorities found over 70 euros along with counterfeit inspector credentials on him. It remains unclear how long he had been carrying out this scheme. The teenager was brought before the court, while his parents were also arrested for neglecting their child.
