in

An 11-day countdown has begun for taxpayers to complete the submission of their 2024 tax declarations to the Independent Authority for Public Revenues (AADE). The final deadline for submissions is July 15, 2025, while July 31 marks the last date for paying the first installment of income tax or making a one-time payment with a 4% discount for those who submitted their declaration by April 30. Taxpayers who filed by June 15 are eligible for a 3% discount, and those submitting by July 15 receive a 2% discount, according to ertnews.

So far, 86% of taxpayers (5,684,592 out of 6,545,350) have already submitted their declarations. Approximately one in three taxpayers received a positive settlement, with an average additional tax burden of €1,891, representing a 16.1% increase compared to last year.

Specifically:
– 1,897,516 declarations (33.38%) resulted in a tax debt totaling €3.588 billion, with an average tax amount of €1,891.
– 22.55% of taxpayers are entitled to a refund averaging €360. A total of €236.95 million has already been disbursed to 1,023,096 taxpayers out of 1,281,875 eligible.
– 442,098 taxpayers had debts offset against public liabilities and EFKA obligations, amounting to €124.8 million.
– 44.07% of taxpayers (2,505,199 declarations) received a zero settlement.

The tax liability can be paid in eight installments:
1st: July 31, 2025
2nd: August 29, 2025
3rd: September 30, 2025
4th: October 31, 2025
5th: November 28, 2025
6th: December 31, 2025
7th: January 30, 2026
8th: February 27, 2026

Taxpayers may also submit corrective declarations without penalties until July 15 through AADE’s platform. Corrections can significantly reduce tax burdens, especially for households that made errors in declaring income, expenses, or property details. However, corrections made after this date will incur fines ranging from €100 to €500, plus late payment interest, unless exceptions apply.
