“One can have a very healthy child, and at the same time, we might see an opposite-sex couple smoking around their child,” Tassos Xiarchos initially stated. Speaking on the Morning Show with Anastasia Zarka about the bill excluding same-sex male couples from obtaining children through surrogate mothers, Xiarchos expressed his views. “Because I am deeply religious and strongly believe that children come from God, not storks, I don’t like interfering with nature. If someone feels this need and believes they are capable and ideal, of course, they should proceed. However, a same-sex couple faces many societal challenges. There’s no need to put everyone in the same bag; parents should simply be evaluated as parents before adopting or having a child,” Xiarchos explained. He added, “A same-sex couple can have a very healthy child, while at the same time, an opposite-sex couple might smoke around theirs.”
