Boris Johnson: Countries Should Not Recognize Taliban as Afghan Government

No one should recognize the Taliban on a bilateral basis as the government of Afghanistan, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said today, adding that it was clear that there would be a new government in the country very soon.

“We do not want anyone to recognize the Taliban on a bilateral basis,” he said in an interview.

“We want a common position among all those who share the same views as us, as long as we can get one,” Johnson said.
