Syriza is preparing for a radical renewal of its party organs, as President Socrates Famellos presents key leadership changes during today’s (05.07.2025) Central Committee meeting. Famellos aims to reshape the party with a new Secretary and Press Spokesperson who can best represent the ‘new Syriza.’
For the role of Party Secretary, Famellos is expected to propose former spokesperson Stergios Kalpakis, while Costas Zacharidis is tipped to become the new Press Spokesperson. Additionally, Anastasia Sapounia is reportedly set to take on the role of Deputy Secretary.
Famellos will also propose names for the new Political Secretariat, including Giannis Rangos, Mariliza Xenogiannakopoulou, Costas Zacharidis, Giannis Mouzalis, Thanasis Theoharopoulos, Giannis Matzouranis, Giannis Boulekos, Giorgos Mpalafras, Tryfon Alexiadis, and Rania Svigou.
MPs such as Olga Gerovasil, Pavlos Polakis, Nikos Pappas, Dionysis Kalamatanos, Rena Dourou, and Katerina Notopoulou are also expected to participate in these structures.
Pavlos Polakis’ faction is also anticipated to submit additional proposals to ensure adequate representation within the party organs.
