SYRIZA: The Kasselakis jerking movements before the critical CE and the “dribla” with the name change

The Titanic just before his sinking looks like him, after the main opposition party moves without a compass. He appears in the face of the crucial meeting of the KKE to make convulsive moves, such as the restoration of Paul Polakis in KO, while also opening the issue of changing Syriza’s name. It is worth noting, however, that in the proposals he delivered yesterday (4,9,2024) to the competent committee of SYRIZA this issue did not exist, although there was a great debate all day on the new name. Stefanos Kasselakis only submitted the changes he wishes to make in terms of MPs and party officials. At the same time, the head of KO, Nikos Pappas, opened the internal party game even more, as referring to Stefanos Kasselakis stressed that “if he has not fallen”, he will represent the party in ITH, while expressing the view that Christos Spirtzis will not be deleted. He added, in fact, that even if it is decided to delete it from the Ethics Committee, the final decision will be made by the JV, implying that this recommendation may obviously not be passed. The “blofa” and the… “brand” SYRIZA The change in Stefanos Kasselakis’ attitude is obviously about the fact that before the summer the president of SYRIZA said he would not change it, as the name “is a tribute to the party”. At first, he had appeared to abandon the second synthetic, namely the “progressive alliance” on which Alexis Tsipras had previously relied. In fact, it was reported when it was noted by officials who disagree with him that the term “Progressive Alliance” should not be removed, as it symbolizes enlargement, the president of Syriza replied that what the party needs is a progressive movement. It is said that it did not exclude as an idea the “brand” SYRIZA to remain with a second synthetic “Progressive Movement” . The same executives pointed out that Stefanos Kasselakis at the initial meeting appeared with a carelessness to speak about the changes he wants to make to the party without talking about specific articles. Some in the main opposition party claim that all this was done in order for the president of SYRIZA to be freed from the Polakis issue and his return to the party, as his move was interpreted as a sign of weakness. The same people argue, in fact, that Stefanos Kasselakis apparently felt that in this way he would be able to appease MP Chania who has let it be understood that he can even file a motion of censure. The information nevertheless insists that Paul Polakis will criticize the President of SYRIZA, while considering the issue of impeachment. As his own speakers say, there are other ways of questioning the president beyond the motion of censure. Especially if Stefanos Kasselakis is challenged by a large part of the speakers, then everything is open. The president of SYRIZA seems to have communicatively achieved what he wanted as yesterday there were strong reactions from the “87” as well as from officials supporting Stefanos Kasselakis on the subject of the name and the general changes he wants to make. As the main opposition party said, the proposal that MPs should not participate in the institutions is incomprehensible, since the key element in the work of elected parliamentary officials is to listen to the problems that the party brings to them in order to support their parliamentary work. The second parameter, which concerns Members and their three terms of office, is also at the heart of criticism, as party officials say that this will also be an element of trade between the President and the candidate Members. Reactions and spikes The executives of the “87” movement, such as Olga Gerovasili and George Vasiliadis, expressed their opposition to the changes, calling on the president of Syriza to appeal to the base so that his political plan can be clearly judged. George Vasiliadis, commenting on these changes, said that he would not be interested in participating in instruments, as it would be a party IX – “Casselakis and friends”, as he said. For his part Socrates Famellus and Olga Gerovasil appear to insist on recourse to the polls in order to find a solution. And this solution is none other than the defeat of Stefanos Kasselakis in such an electoral process or the lasting guerrilla on the part of dissenters. However, the attitude of the leader of SYRIZA Nikos Pappas – who supports Stefanos Kasselakis – and who stressed that: “I’m not very sure we should be bothered about this at the conference”. The MEP, Kostas Arvanitis, in a statement stressed that: “There is no more. The main responsibility for undermining Syriza is with the leadership, while Christos Giannoulis stressed that “We do not deserve Syriza to be the subject of mock, ironic and sarcastic comments”.
