His former president, he finally managed to overshadow Nikos Pappas’ interview in ITH, since at the time the head of KO of SYRIZA was speaking in Thessaloniki, his associates made known that he gave a mandate to remove the proxy by which Christos Mavrocephalidis was responsible for the financial issues of SYRIZA. With this aggressive move Stefanos Kasselakis wanted to show once again that he is the president of SYRIZA despite any decision made by the KKE and the Political Secretariat. In fact, the fallen president of SYRIZA attempted with this move – and until the issue was settled – to “strangle” the issue financially by removing the right from Mr. Mavrocephalidis to do any economic act, such as payments of the workers and outstanding issues of Koumoundourou. The former president’s associates say that this in itself shows that Stefanos Kasselakis is still the president of SYRIZA. “After the proxy was revoked by Mr. Kasselakis to Mr. Mavrocephalidis with whom the party operates today they called partners of the former president. Under the Statute Article 44, only the President may give authorisation” say the people who are next to him. They still point out that the former president did this, as he is responsible for the law for what happens inside Syriza. Please note that the proxy drafted last April was lifted on Friday and announced on Sunday. Nikos Pope, who was asked about the subject, referred to the topic to the KKE and the Political Secretariat of SYRIZA, while at the same time executives of 87 say that there is no legal issue. This issue is expected to be discussed, however, on Tuesday at the Political Secretariat meeting to examine all developments. In fact, information says that the Political Secretariat has consulted lawyers who have been told that there is no issue and the problem will be solved. Executives of the 87 side wonder, however, what else will Stefanos Kasselakis do to keep the president’s chair. “When it comes to vengeful action against the party that has brought him to chief of the main opposition we all understand who can reach the next period,” they said. What Nikos Pappas said At yesterday’s press conference at ITH Nikos Pappas insisted that the country needs a major progressive change and added that: “SYRIZA … as greater opposition force meets his responsibilities”. The Southern MP left open the possibility of being a candidate for the party’s presidency by saying that “there is no such talk at the moment” and adding that “and this is not just my face that concerns everyone.” Naturally a large part of the interview was spent in the inner parties of Syriza. In question, whether Stefanos Kasselakis is fallen and about his diversion, Nikos Pappas replied that “the statute of SYRIZA allows neither diversions nor coups”. More characteristically he said: “It predicts that all offices and all powers are both controlling and are irrevocable. The SG is recalled by the JV, and the JV is recalled by an extraordinary conference, which can cause members with signatures. It is not understood and I do not think anyone believes that the SYRIZA statute would provide for a mandate which is not subject to scrutiny. And it is not meant in developed democracies, let alone in a party that is the most democratically organized in Greece.” The question whether or not Stefanos Kasselakis was fallen answered: “SYRIZA has a charter that clearly provides that all powers and offices are controlled and revoked. He added that there is no “no obstacle to the participation of Kasselakis in the election”, while he avoided answering whether the bad president was good. He even commented on what Stefanos Kasselakis said about hoods in Syriza’s KE and whether there is a possibility of referral. Kasselakis to the Ethics Committee set up by the 87, saying: “In Syriza there are no hoods, there are executives with parchments and stories and militants of the Left and progressive party”. Responding, in fact, to the placement of constitutionalist Hosting Kontiades for what happened to the CE said: “Parties are voluntary civil associations. Xenophon Kontiadis is not a member of our party, in the European elections he worked with another party.” He was even asked whether the way to return MPs who left the party, “if St. Kasselakis is not re-elected”. “For the MPs of the New Left there is a large thorn and the big thorn is that there have been departures and unfortunately they also took the seats under a mill and some left,” said the representative of SYRIZA KO. “This is not a good condition for debate and convergence, it is a plague of morality and politics,” he said. Nikos Pappas also revealed that Syriza will make a loan. “I am able to tell you that it will break the doctrine of zero lending. A loan will help us close loose ends and it is something we are looking at and we will soon move on to it,” he said.
