SYRIZA replies to Hatzidakis: “ND voted alone to destroy the lives of workers”

ND alone has destroyed the future and the lives of workers and young people,” SYRIZA said in a statement, responding to a corresponding announcement by the Minister of Labour, Kostis Hatzidakis, adding: “European directives will not be a convenient treat for the anti-labour abomination of ND”. He goes on to argue: “The ND and Mr Mitsotakis think that they will deceive citizens and workers as they deceive the banks by giving them millions” and adds: “Today the ND voted alone isolated from all parties and from Greek society the abolition of 8 hours, unpaid overtime, wage reductions, the release of redundancies regardless of court decisions and the transformation of the lives of workers and especially young people into rubber.”.

Responding to the Labour Minister’s statement, he said: “No matter how many lies Mr Hatzidakis to cover up this reality, the public have noticed them. SYRIZA-PS voted against the anti-labour bill! It voted, like other opposition parties, only the incorporations of international conventions and the European Directive which are obligations of the country and positive measures and are pending under Mitsotakis’ responsibility from autumn 2019 and voted one by one against all the anti-labour measures dictated by BSE to Mr Mitsotakis”.
It goes on to explain its position: ‘In this context, it voted against Article 55, which hypocritically states in the first paragraph of the eight-hour period, in order to introduce in the second paragraph the arrangement of working time with four-day ten-hour work without an increase in pay, the first provision catalyzing eight-hour and five-day work, which ends with Article 59 with the abolition of the 8-hour period with the introduction of the individual contract and the imposition of ten-hour work. , with two hours of unpaid work and payment on the day off!

It also voted against Article 69, which provides for the inadmissible presumption that platform workers are not employees, which it also raised with the objection of unconstitutionality, and consequently did not vote for Article 70 which referred to them as ‘service providers’ in their trade union, in order not to have the cover and application of labour law and the rights of salaried workers!’.
