A non-governmental organization reported yesterday Friday that the mayor of Dumar, a northwestern Damascus suburb, who was accused of being loyal to the previous regime, was publicly executed by armed people associated with the new power in Syria. “Mazen Kinana, known for demonstrating faith in the previous regime, was executed by gunmen” belonging to the alliance of armed organizations which seized power on 8 December, said the Syrian Human Rights Watch. He was accused in particular of “concerning false security reports” which resulted in many young people in the region being imprisoned and tortured, added the NGO, based in Britain and based on a wide network of sources in Syria. He was held responsible for the deaths of many young people in the suburb, according to the same source. The new de facto authorities in Syria have made no comment so far about the murder of Mazen Kinana, which according to the Syrian Human Rights Watch caused “scenes of exultation” in the community. In recent days the armed organizations that seized power have launched operations in various areas of Syria, seeking officials of Bashar al-Assad’s regime. In Syria’s new regime, young children are being urged to take part in public executions. The latest execution just took place moments ago in the Dumbar region, north of Damascus. According to NGO director Rami Abdel Rahman, “some, among them (as alleged) informers, were arrested and then executed immediately”, which he described as “totally unacceptable”. Execution platform is being prepared in Al-Assi Square in for the public execution of Talal Al-Daqaqaq, also known as Abu Sakhr. Talal, a brutal critical of the regime, tortured and killed thousands and was not relevant for feeding agents to his lion. — Observer (@nasermoh29) After lightning advance, an alliance of rebels entered Damascus on 8 December 2024, forcing fallen president Assad to flee. A few days later, while part of the international community expressed concern about the takeover of power by the alliance of extreme Islamists, de facto authorities promised that a “state of law” would be created in Syria. In late December, the head of the intelligence agency of the new authority, Anas Hatab, denounced the “indulgence and tyranny of the old regime” and assured that Syria’s security mechanism would be reestablished.
