A new documentary series based on the 2021 murder of 20-year-old Caroline Krauts in Sweet Waters — a coastal area near Athens — will premiere on Amazon Prime in September. The killing, committed by her husband, shocked Greece and drew international attention.
A British Production with Journalistic Rigor
The series is produced by UK-based StoryFilms, an award-winning production company known for its journalistic depth and cinematic storytelling — including multiple BAFTA accolades. It forms part of a five-part documentary series examining high-profile femicides that reverberated across Europe and beyond.
Filming Across Key Locations
Shooting took place recently over 14 days, spanning both Sweet Waters — where Caroline’s life ended tragically — and Alonissos, the island where she grew up. The production team spoke with locals who knew her, interviewed her father, legal representatives for both Caroline’s family and her convicted killer, Babis Anagnostopoulos, and others close to the victim.
Deep-Dive Reporting Led by Greek Journalist Anthi Karasavva
The two-episode segment on Caroline’s case was reported and produced by Greek journalist Anthi Karasavva, who covered the crime from its earliest hours for major international news outlets. She explained that StoryFilms approached her specifically due to her in-depth reporting and familiarity with every stage of the investigation.
“It wasn’t just a story that shook Greece — it dominated headlines in the UK too,” Karasavva noted, citing Caroline’s British father and sustained media coverage there. “It was an extraordinary crime with many layers — including the perpetrator’s attempt to stage the perfect murder, followed by 37 days of calculated performance aimed at deceiving authorities.”
Each episode runs approximately 90 minutes. The full series will explore five cases, with two episodes dedicated to each.
