Suspicious Package Causes Disruption Near ‘Great Britain’ Hotel in University Street

Sunday evening, June 15, 2025, saw a commotion after a suspicious package was found near the ‘Great Britain’ hotel on University Street. A unit from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Department (EOD) rushed to the scene to investigate the object located at this central point in Athens, specifically at the Great Britain hotel in Syntagma Square. Earlier, traffic on University Street had been disrupted at its intersection with King George Street. Shortly after 11:00 PM, the alert was called off and the road reopened to traffic. Notably, earlier that day, a crowd had gathered in Syntagma Square to protest in support of Palestine.
