In the oncology patient’s journey, there is a pivotal moment not captured by tests or treatment protocols—the period after therapy ends. When cancer may be in remission, the need for holistic care remains. This is survivorship: life after cancer, centered not only on survival but on quality of life, psychological resilience, and human-centered, integrative care. Internationally, survivorship has become integral to oncology—encompassing reintegration into daily life, managing long-term side effects, mental health support, and lifestyle medicine. In this context, the new Pampering Room at Attiko Hospital’s Oncology Unit fills a critical gap. Designed for patients during or after treatment, it offers comprehensive Lifestyle Medicine services: medical lifestyle support, personalized exercise guidance, nutrition counseling, sleep monitoring, psychological sessions, and smoking cessation and alcohol reduction programs. It also hosts the hospital’s integrated Survivorship Program, part of its Survivorship Clinic—a pioneering initiative in Greece focused systematically on post-treatment recovery, physical rehabilitation, emotional strength, and overall well-being. This project continues a collaboration launched in 2021 with the first Pampering Room at Areteio Hospital, led by doValue Greece and the ‘By Her Side’ Association. Today, the vision expands: building a nationwide network of Pampering Rooms across Greek public hospitals. Theodoros Kalantounis, CEO of doValue Greece, emphasizes that such investments reflect a consistent philosophy of social responsibility—measured by tangible societal impact. ‘When scientific knowledge meets compassion and social awareness, we create initiatives that truly improve patients’ quality of life,’ he states. Dr. Kalliopi Kalaitzi, President of ‘By Her Side’ and specialist in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, adds that modern healthcare must embrace the whole person—not just the disease.
