A new era begins in the Super League with the introduction of semi-automatic offside and Goal Line Technology starting from this year’s playoffs involving the top four teams in the league, as well as the final of the Cup. Recent efforts have been made to incorporate these technologies, and the Super League has officially announced its collaboration with the company ‘Hawk-Eye Innovations’ to implement both systems in upcoming matches. This move ensures that games will now be officiated using advanced technologies aimed at improving refereeing decisions. The system consists of ten cameras to accurately analyze player positions and ball trajectories, allowing for faster and more precise offside decisions through 3D imaging. Furthermore, referees will instantly know if the ball crossed the line, marking a significant improvement for Greek football. In an official statement, the Super League declared: ‘Following a unanimous decision by the Board of Directors of the Super League, we announce the commencement of our collaboration with Hawk-Eye Innovations, a Sony group company, for the use of Semi-Automated Offside Technology (SAOT) and Goal Line Technology (GLT) in all playoff matches (positions 1-4) and the Greece Cup final.’
