Summer garden: tricks for the well-being of the

Summer in our country is – in my opinion – a challenge for the grower. Throughout Europe, the winter is this…
it is considered the “dead season” for crops, on the contrary, in Greece we have a mild winter, ideal for the cultivation of μποστανιού us. In the summer though, especially in Attica and southern Greece, the weather can be fatal for the plants, as without the right measures are in danger to dry out from the heat waves.
Let’s mention, well, a few tricks, in order to keep the plants and our land in the summer and to achieve high production without excessive water consumption. As we know, the biggest problem of summer drought, because the heat evaporates and the last drop from the ground, revealing cracks in the ground and ξεζουμίζοντας the fruits and plants. Therefore, in the summer, the watering right is the one that will play a decisive role in the success of the μποστανιού.
The plants prefer the scheduled watering and is thus more appropriate to place that has no sun, so after sunset or before sunrise – those are the ideal phases. For this reason it will be useful an automatic watering system, which will regulate the time and duration of watering. We prefer watering with drops, that way we will have more economy in the water after you have watered each plant individually as needed, and not all of μποστανιού. Still, with the drops prevent the evaporation of water, which may stand in the leaves of plants, in contrast to systems with a nozzle or atomizer.

We can also construct mechanisms that will water automatically for the plants, with bottles running in constant flow or with jars of clay buried in the ground.
It is necessary to mulch, to prevent still further the evaporation of the water of the soil and to protect the fertility of the earth from the ultraviolet radiations of the sun. The mulch can be made up of little white pebbles, which are ideal to place them among the vegetables which have a short root system and require frequent watering.
For plants with a large root system, such as the tomato and squash, we can use mulch of straw, lawn clippings or weeds from # the weeding, because the plants want sparse watering but in a large quantity. Also thrive in fertile soils that meet the requirements of the great the root. This is exactly what can give us the straw and the rest of the cut grass, as well as holding water like a sponge and they provide fertility to the earth during the formation of travertine.
We can still have a live mulch, i.e. a dense vegetation of low plants that cover the soil like a natural green carpet. Plants for this role is the clover (alfalfa), vetch, purslane, mint, apart from the protection of the soil is all, and excellent food. We use blinds especially with a protection of 40% of the sun, points in particular that hits the noonday sun. Still we take advantage of the natural shades that may create the north side of a tree or a fence in our garden.
Finally, to emphasize that the best protection against weather conditions is to grow plants that thrive in our environment, so it is important to find seeds from our place and watch the seeds of the fruit.
