The company, which was organized by the Group to Tackle Organised Crime of the General Regional Police Directorate of Crete and the Security Sub-division of Rethymno, assisted by the Departments of Police Operations of Rethymno and Mylopotamos and Narcotics Rethymnon.
In the context of the extended enterprise, were arrested three Greeks, aged 44, 40 and 26 years of age, while their weight was formed κακουÏÎ³Î·Î¼Î±Ï„Î¹ÎºÎ¿Ï the case for violations of the weapons law and legislation for the protection of Antiquities and in general of cultural heritage.
The arrest is the result of prolonged, systematic and specialised police investigation, conducted by the Team to Tackle Organised Crime of the General Regional Police Directorate of Crete and the Security Sub-division of Rethymno.
In particular, after a specialised combination research and inquiry as well as appropriate use of data, it emerged that the 44-year-old (who happens to be temporarily a prisoner in a detention facility), together with the 40-year-old had been leased, since September 2011, a home in Heraklion, which was used exclusively as a place of illegal activities (storage of – arms trafficking).
The lease was done in the name of 44χÏονου, while as it emerged the 40-year-old and the 26-year-old managed the issues of the lease, acting for the 44χÏονου, at the time of booking.
In the context of the operation, investigations were carried out in homes and spaces, which was used by the arrested, where they found and seized a total of:
18 military rifles of various types (Kalashnikov, auto M16, auto H&K submachine gun PPS, you’re welcome etc)
8 pistols and a revolver,
8 pounds αμμωνιοδυναμίτιδα,
2 pounds of explosive material TNT,
24 grenades (offensive and defensive type)
207 clips (87 firearms, and 120 martial rifles),
18.397 full cartridges of various types (firearms and martial rifles and calibers,
2.308 full cartridges shotgun of various types and calibers,
2 swords with a blade length of from 0.70 and 0.50 m, respectively,
34 barrels of weapons, of various types and calibers,
97 accessories-parts of weapons, of various types and calibers,
4 πυÏοδοτικοί mechanisms of explosive material,
9 common triggers,
11 silencers weapons,
6 diopters of martial rifles,
4 meters flame retardant fuse,
2 stone figurines of cycladic type,
1 bronze figurine of a man unknown period,
1 bronze hoop unknown period,
Multitude of species for cleaning of firearms, parts of firearms and hunting weapons, 2 tiles of the handle of a gun, carrying case gun, holsters magazines, a multitude of keys and 1 hood-type full face.
The persons arrested, with the file that was formed against them, will be brought to mr public Prosecutor at first instance of Rethymno, while the investigation is ongoing by the Team to Tackle Organised Crime of the General Regional Police Directorate of Crete, to explore the full breadth and scope of the criminal activity of those involved.
