Stuttgart: ‘Tragic Traffic Accident’ Leaves One Dead and Two Critically Injured

Haunting memories were awakened on Friday afternoon (02.05.2025) in Stuttgart when a car plowed into a crowd in the city center. A 46-year-old woman succumbed to her injuries, while two others are in critical condition. Among the seven injured, two are reported to be critically wounded. German authorities have ruled out the possibility of a terrorist attack, attributing it instead to a ‘tragic traffic accident.’ The Stuttgart police have excluded any possibility of a terrorist act or deliberate action. The driver, a 42-year-old German man, has already been arrested. ‘We are shocked by this tragic traffic accident, which resulted in the loss of life of a woman. Our sincere condolences go out to her family. Our thoughts are with the injured and their families, and we wish for a swift recovery,’ stated Mayor Frank Nopper earlier. The accident occurred at 18:50 (Greek time) in a busy area of Stuttgart when, according to the police, the driver lost control of his Mercedes G-Class SUV while attempting to turn, hitting a group of pedestrians, including a woman pushing a stroller. Among the injured is also a child.
