Strong Winds and Temperature Drop Expected on Clean Monday

Today, March 3, 2025, is expected to be rainy with a drop in temperature and winds reaching up to 8 Beaufort, according to the Hellenic National Meteorological Service (EMY). Specifically, the EMY bulletin states that Clean Monday will see scattered clouds in the Ionian, Epirus, western Sterea, and western Peloponnese regions, which will gradually increase, leading to sporadic rains, some snow in mountainous areas, particularly in the Ionian, and isolated thunderstorms. These conditions are expected to subside by evening, limiting phenomena to southern Ionian areas. After midday, these conditions will weaken gradually and by nightfall will be confined to Crete. Winds will blow from the west-east directions at 4-6 Beaufort, shifting to north-northeast at 4-6 Beaufort in eastern areas and locally rising to 7-8 Beaufort in the Aegean. Temperatures will fall, especially in northern and eastern regions, with northern areas not exceeding 12°C, western areas around 17°C, other continental areas between 14-15°C, and the rest of the islands between 16-18°C. Frost is expected in some northwest locations during the morning hours. Attica will initially see increased cloudiness with local rains, improving gradually after midday. Strong northerly winds and a temperature range of 7-14°C are forecasted for Athens. Thessaloniki and Macedonia-Thrace will experience similar weather patterns with localized showers and potential isolated thunderstorms, followed by gradual improvement.
