Storm Coral: Heavy Snow and Freezing Cold Until Next Monday – Attica Hit on Friday

The urgent weather deterioration bulletin issued yesterday was updated by the Hellenic National Meteorological Service (EMY) at noon on Wednesday (19.02.25) regarding Storm Coral, which is impacting the country with heavy rains, storms, and biting cold. According to the updated bulletin for Storm Coral, a gradual worsening of the weather is forecast from today until next Monday across the country and the broader region of Southeastern Europe and Eastern Mediterranean, with an intense cold wave. The temperature drop will be gradual, overall reaching 8 to 10 degrees Celsius in Northern and Eastern Greece, with the lowest temperatures recorded over the weekend. Gale-force northerly winds will prevail in the Aegean Sea with intensities of 7 and locally up to 8 Beaufort. Additionally, two disturbances will bring generally weak snowfall primarily affecting the northern, central, and eastern mainland areas as well as the islands of the Aegean and Crete. Specific temperature details are provided for each day along with snowfall predictions, indicating significant impacts especially in Macedonia, Thrace, and parts of Central Greece including Attica.
