Authorities are intensifying efforts to locate 45-year-old Stavroula Levendaki, who vanished on 30 May 2026 in Chania, Crete. Investigators have conducted an exhaustive search of her residence in the Agia district of Chania, meticulously examining the property for clues that could shed light on her disappearance.
Forensic Evidence and Surveillance Review
According to reports from Star, police carried out a thorough, ‘leaf-by-leaf’ inspection of Levendaki’s home — a rented apartment she shared previously with her brother. Investigators are also mapping her last known movements, focusing especially on the route she took before vanishing near a local bus stop.
Law enforcement has collected significant forensic evidence from the premises, now under detailed analysis. The Hellenic Police (ELAS) is reviewing security camera footage from the area and gathering statements from family members and close friends. A key witness — described as central to the investigation — has been summoned for a second interview. Sources stress this individual is not her brother.
Witness Account from Tenant
The tenant currently renting the apartment spoke with Live News. He recalled seeing Levendaki arrive at the property at 4:45 p.m. on 30 May. “She told me she was in a rush — needed to catch the 5 p.m. bus,” he said. According to him, she entered carrying two bags, stayed for just two or three minutes, then left again with the same bags, heading toward the nearby bus stop.
The tenant added that the apartment had once belonged jointly to Levendaki and her brother. He recounted witnessing a prior dispute between them: “Her brother lived in half the flat. She threw him out, saying the house was hers alone and he had no right to be there.”
Brother’s Statement on Family Tensions
Levendaki’s brother acknowledged strained relations over a period but clarified they were not rooted in financial disputes. Instead, he cited differences over how to care for their ailing parents. “We weren’t close siblings, but neither of us wished the other harm,” he said. “There’s no inheritance or property to divide — nothing material to fight over. We both eat. Neither of us is starving. There’s no motive for me — or anyone — to harm her for money.”
Eighteen days after her mysterious disappearance, authorities continue to treat the case as potentially criminal. The area where she was last seen remains under close scrutiny, and community anxiety in Agia runs high as residents await answers.
