Clear Footage, Swift Arrest
In the video, the suspect exits quickly from the building on G’ Septemvriou Street in central Athens, laptop in hand. He appears composed, speaking on his mobile phone as he walks — all captured clearly by a nearby security camera. Multiple surveillance recordings tracked his movements as he left the scene, aiding investigators in identifying and locating him.
The suspect — already known to authorities for illegal entry into Greece — was arrested the same evening in Agios Nikolaos, Athens. On Thursday, 23 July 2026, he appeared before the public prosecutor and was formally charged with premeditated homicide committed in a calm mental state. He was granted time to prepare his statement, scheduled for the following Monday.
What Investigators Say
According to preliminary police statements, the suspect claimed he and Georgiou had met earlier for drinks before going together to the lawyer’s office. There, he alleged, a heated argument escalated — culminating in fatal blows to the 73-year-old. After the attack, he reportedly went to a hospital for treatment to an injured hand, likely sustained during the assault.
