Stathis Panagiotopoulos Convicted in Revenge Porn Case Involving Ex-Partner

Stathis Panagiotopoulos was found guilty and sentenced to three years in prison, with the right to appeal. The trial took place behind closed doors at the request of the complainant, who accused him of distributing personal intimate videos without her consent. This revenge porn case sparked significant reactions and discussions when it came to light. During the trial, Panagiotopoulos argued that he did not intend to harm the victim, attributing his actions to ‘passion’ caused by a documented mental illness. Some observers consider the court’s decision on this third complaint relatively lenient for Panagiotopoulos, who was represented by his lawyer and was not present in court. On December 13, 2021, Panagiotopoulos stopped participating in broadcasts for ‘Radio Arvyla’ and ‘VINYΛIO’. Due to these allegations, he was also dismissed from the Cypriot radio station ‘Rock FM’. He admitted his act was ‘unacceptable’ and apologized.
